Scrooge effects of loneliness and isolation 2022 exam 2 model answers
Two attempts at responding to a question about the effects of Scrooge’s loneliness and isolation from society. I anticipate that these would achieve grade 8/9 depending on the leniency of the grade boundaries in any particular year.
The 2 responses are structured differently so they are useful to help students see different ways of trying to meet the assessment objectives.

Macbeth Model responses
A range of high grade responses on Macbeth. All responses aim to be critical and convincing with judicious use of references and perceptive analysis of methods aligned closely with authorial motives.
While I think all responses would achieve grade 9, I am reluctant to claim they are definitely grade 9 because there are always some teachers who claim nothing short of degree-level writing will achieve a 9.

Using a motif is a great way to gain marks for structure and organisation in Paper 1 question 5. This resource contains 4 high grade examples of how to use a motif for Paper 1 Question 5. They are responses to the November 2021 question: write a story about a new beginning.
